How Vertrix selects and presents news

A clear methodology helps readers understand what our service does, what it does not do and how to follow a report to its origin.

Publisher selection

We monitor a mix of public broadcasters, international news organisations, national newspapers and specialist sports sources. Selection considers an identifiable publisher, a functioning original report, regular updates and a record of accountable publishing. A source appearing on Vertrix does not mean that every claim it publishes is endorsed.

Collection and organisation

Public feeds are checked throughout the day. Reports are grouped into subject and country desks using their content and publisher context. Duplicate links are excluded, publication dates are retained and the newest relevant items are prioritised. Readers can use search, category pages and country pages to move between different strands of coverage.

Writing and verification limits

Briefs are written from the material supplied by the named publisher. We aim to preserve the central facts, identify the speaker behind disputed claims and avoid copying distinctive wording. Unless a page explicitly states otherwise, Vertrix has not independently witnessed or verified the event. The original report remains the primary reference.

Quality controls

Very short reports and pages without adequate supporting material are excluded from search indexing. Publisher logos, placeholders and unsuitable image files are filtered out. Sitemaps prioritise substantive stories with an attributable image and sufficient explanatory text.

Updates

Desks refresh regularly, while source failures are isolated so that one unavailable publisher does not stop the wider service. Older material remains useful as a record of what was reported at the time, but current pages prioritise the newest available coverage.
