All students recovering after illness at Kadapa residential school, official says

All students who reportedly fell ill at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Gurukul School at Tondur in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district are currently in good health, an official said on Saturday.

B. Lavanya Veni, Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, sought details after learning that several students at the residential school had experienced vomiting and diarrhoea. The affected students were admitted to hospital and received specialised treatment under the supervision of the District Medical and Health Officer, Ms.

Lavanya Veni said. She added that the department had responded immediately after being informed about the incident. The APSWREIS District Coordinator Officer for Kadapa remained at the hospital and continuously monitored the students’ health, according to the Secretary.

No further details about the number of students affected or the cause of the illness were provided in the official account. Ms. Lavanya Veni said a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted into the incident.

She assured that appropriate action would be taken against anyone found responsible. She also warned that negligence towards students or dereliction of duty by staff in social welfare hostels and Ambedkar Gurukul schools would not be tolerated. The warning covered employees working in the residential education system overseen by the social welfare authorities.
