Bihar police register case over alleged AI-generated videos linked to Jamui assault

Bihar Police have registered a case against a social media user accused of uploading several AI-generated videos involving a girl who was allegedly molested in Jamui district and her male friend. The police said the videos were misleading and fake. According to a statement from Jamui police, the videos were uploaded by an account using the user ID Kishori Kumar Yadav.

Police said the material revealed the girl’s identity and could affect social harmony. The case was registered at the Cyber Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, the Juvenile Justice Act and the Information Technology Act. The girl and her friend, who studied at a coaching institute, were allegedly harassed by a group on the evening of September 19.

The incident became known two days later after a video circulated on social media. Police said three of the accused were minors. They were arrested and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Two other suspects were arrested after an encounter in which one of them suffered a bullet injury. The latest case concerns the alleged circulation of synthetic material connected with the incident, rather than the original assault allegations. Police described the uploaded clips as fake and misleading and said their circulation raised concerns about the victim’s identity and public order.

The statement did not provide details about the social media account holder’s arrest or the precise number of videos allegedly uploaded. It also did not specify the sections of the laws invoked beyond identifying the statutes under which the cyber case was registered.
