The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation will operate 150 additional outstation buses on October 1 to support KSRTC as travel demand rises ahead of Gandhi Jayanti and the following weekend. Services will leave from Kempegowda Bus Station and Mysuru Road Bus Station for destinations across Karnataka.

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation will deploy 150 additional buses for outstation services on October 1 to support the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation during the expected holiday travel surge. The move comes ahead of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 and the subsequent weekend, when officials expect increased inter-city travel from Bengaluru. The additional services will operate from Kempegowda Bus Station and Mysuru Road Bus Station.

According to an order issued by BMTC on Wednesday, 100 buses will depart from Kempegowda Bus Station after 8 p.m. A further 50 buses will operate from Mysuru Road Bus Station after 5 p.m. The services from Kempegowda Bus Station will cover Shivamogga, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Hosadurga, Hosapete, Ballari, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru and Dharmasthala.

Services from Mysuru Road Bus Station will run towards Mysuru and Malavalli-Kollegal. Officials said the arrangement was intended to ease pressure on KSRTC services and help passengers reach their destinations during the period of higher demand. BMTC has directed divisional traffic officials to coordinate with KSRTC and deploy additional buses on routes experiencing crowding.

The corporation has used its buses to support KSRTC during long weekends and holiday periods in recent years, according to the source material. The latest deployment is focused on managing demand from Bengaluru during the Gandhi Jayanti holiday period.
