Carter Efe targets international opponents after celebrity boxing win

Content creator Carter Efe retained his celebrity boxing title with a technical-knockout victory over rapper Speed Darlington in Lagos. After the four-round bout, Efe said he wanted to face international opponents including DDG and Floyd Mayweather Jr., but added that he would not fight again until after his planned wedding.
Content creator and streamer Carter Efe has retained his celebrity boxing title after defeating rapper Speed Darlington by technical knockout in Lagos. The four-round bout took place on Thursday at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, as part of Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring Independence Edition. The event was organised to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Efe controlled much of the contest before the referee intervened after Darlington stopped moving. The decision extended Efe’s unbeaten record in the celebrity boxing series. The victory followed Efe’s unanimous-decision win over singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus in May.
All three judges scored that three-round contest 30-27 in Efe’s favour. Businessman Emeka “E-Money” Okonkwo had pledged a N50 million reward after that fight. Speaking after the bout, Efe said his partner, Taylor Jasmine, had motivated him.
He also acknowledged that the contest had been difficult and said he had not trained for the fight. Efe said he wanted to move beyond domestic celebrity contests and named American rapper and streamer DDG and former world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. as potential opponents.
He said he was tired of facing Speed Darlington and Portable and wanted an international challenge. However, Efe said he would not return to the ring until after his planned wedding to Jasmine, who lives in Georgia in the United States. He also expressed interest in a potential contest between entertainers Shank Comics and Kiekie.
The event included other bouts. Phyna defeated actress Nkechi Blessing by knockout in the final round, while Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah beat Nigerian Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by unanimous decision for the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
