DFI Retail puts fully leased Peak shopping centre up for tender

DFI Retail is seeking a buyer for the commercial portion of Dairy Farm Guildford Road Shopping Centre, a two-storey mall near German Swiss International School on The Peak. CBRE said the property is fully leased and will be offered through a public tender closing on November 19, with future residential development expected to support demand.
DFI Retail, the food and beverage arm of Hong Kong-based conglomerate Jardine Matheson, is seeking a buyer for the commercial portion of Dairy Farm Guildford Road Shopping Centre on The Peak. The property will be sold through a public tender closing at noon on November 19, according to sole agent CBRE. The offering covers the entire commercial portion of the centre, which is located near the German Swiss International School’s Peak campus.
The shopping centre comprises a two-storey retail podium with a gross floor area of about 8,974 square feet, or 834 square metres, along with multiple car parking spaces. CBRE said the property is currently fully leased. Its tenants include Wellcome Supermarket, real estate agencies and a cafe, among other businesses.
Avan Pau, a senior director in CBRE Hong Kong’s capital markets team, said the location benefited from a wealthy local population and the nearby school community. Pau said around 1,300 students and their families from more than 30 countries attended the German-Swiss International School, providing what he described as sustained spending power for the property’s retail tenants. He also said about 200 affluent families were expected to move into the area after Wheelock Properties’ ultra-luxury residential project on Mansfield Road was completed in 2028.
According to Pau, the additional residents could strengthen local spending power and increase the property’s long-term retail and commercial value. The source material did not disclose an asking price or identify a prospective buyer. The sale comes as DFI Retail is also due to take over more than 1,100 Starbucks outlets across Asia under an agreement with Maxim’s Caterers.
Under that deal, Maxim’s will buy back half of the stake held by the Jardine Matheson unit. Hong Kong retail sales rose 8.5 per cent in the first eight months of the year from the same period in 2025, provisional government figures showed.
