Ekiti governor pledges stronger support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has pledged to mobilise stronger support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential poll. Oyebanji made the declaration during a town hall meeting with stakeholders from Ekiti North Senatorial District in Ifaki-Ekiti. He said the state would take the election seriously and called on voters to increase Tinubu’s vote tally rather than simply repeat previous results.

The governor cited federal appointments and infrastructure interventions as evidence of the President’s support for Ekiti. He said residents should show appreciation by backing Tinubu at the next election. Oyebanji also outlined priorities for his second term, which begins on October 16, 2026.

He said projects would focus on commerce, productivity and sustainable business growth, with investment directed towards healthcare, electricity, roads and water. Officials at the meeting reported more than 300 nurses and 1,500 health assistants recruited over four years, as well as upgrades to health facilities. Three general hospitals were approved for Ipao, Ikogosi and Awo-Ekiti, they said.

The infrastructure commissioner said more than 500 boreholes had been built, with 110 additional projects proposed. Stakeholders requested further action on roads, electricity, water, healthcare and security. Oyebanji also cited federal collaboration on major roads and urged continued vigilance on security.
