Freshworks founder Girish Mathrubootham to produce sequel to boxing drama

Freshworks founder Girish Mathrubootham is set to enter film production with Sarpatta Parambarai 2, a sequel to filmmaker Pa. Ranjith’s 2021 boxing drama, The Hindu reported. The film, also known as Second Round, will reunite Ranjith with actor Arya, who starred in the original.

The Hindu reported that he is known for his admiration of actor Rajinikanth and would regularly arrange tickets for Freshworks employees during major film releases. A former colleague said Mathrubootham booked first-day, first-show tickets for several hundred teammates on a regular basis.

His enthusiasm for films also appeared in Freshworks’ corporate history: when the company filed for its initial public offering on Nasdaq, the financial filing was reportedly code-named “Project SuperStar”.
