INEC warns Nigerians over fake online voter-registration website

Nigeria’s electoral commission has warned the public against a fraudulent website claiming that nationwide online voter registration is open from September 28 to October 27, 2026. INEC said registration had closed on July 26 and urged Nigerians not to submit personal information through the fake platform.
Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission has warned the public against a fake website claiming that nationwide online voter registration is currently open. In an advisory issued on Saturday, INEC identified the fraudulent address as pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com. The website falsely claims to offer a new registration window from September 28 to October 27, 2026.
The commission said Nigerians should not click on the link or submit personal information through the platform. It warned that information provided to the site could be harvested or misused. INEC clarified that the nationwide voter-registration exercise closed on July 26, 2026.
It said any claim that registration is still open through the website was false. The fake platform reportedly advertises a final phase of nationwide online voter-card registration. It claims to provide services including updating personal details, transferring polling units and replacing lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards.
The site also falsely states that registration and PVC delivery are free, according to the supplied report. INEC urged Nigerians to verify electoral information through its official communication channels. The warning comes as the commission seeks to distinguish its official voter-registration information from websites designed to obtain personal data.
INEC did not state whether the website had been taken down or whether an investigation was under way.
