Michael Desronvil, the sole juror to support convicting Lindsay Clancy in her triple-murder trial, says he remained convinced that she was criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. His lawyer, Edward Paltzik, released Desronvil’s first public comments on the case in a statement on X.
“I didn’t have any doubts,” Desronvil said. He wrote that the physical evidence, witnesses and prosecution case provided enough proof that Clancy knew what she was doing and had planned her actions.
The other 11 jurors were prepared to clear Clancy of criminal responsibility, according to the source text. They believed she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, a rare condition, when she killed her children. Desronvil said he tried to raise alternative interpretations during deliberations but was repeatedly cut off, which he said led others to assume he had doubts about the evidence.
The six-week trial ended without a verdict after the judge declared a mistrial on September 4. The case remains unresolved, and the Plymouth County district attorney has not said whether prosecutors will seek a new trial.
Neither side disputed that Clancy killed her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, at the family home in 2023 before attempting to end her own life. Her lawyer argued that she was a loving mother suffering from deep delusions and other mental-health problems and had been receiving treatment.
Desronvil’s role has drawn both praise and criticism since the trial ended. His personal and legal history has also received media attention, including a restraining order and an eviction dispute over more than US$12,000 in unpaid rent; a 2021 domestic-violence allegation was later dismissed. Paltzik said Desronvil was staying in a secure location and would not give interviews. A fundraiser for security, legal expenses and lost work had raised more than US$289,000, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said Florida would provide asylum if Desronvil was being harassed.
