The Karnataka Examinations Authority has completed the examination and results stages for 7,905 police vacancies in four months, after 8,68,985 applications were received. The process now requires physical fitness tests and appointment orders, with successful candidates expected to join the department within three months, according to the authority.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has completed the examination and results stages for recruitment to 7,905 Karnataka Police posts within four months, a process that will now move to physical fitness tests and the issuing of appointment orders. The authority began the recruitment exercise in June after the State government assigned it the task of filling vacancies across several police cadres. According to the information provided by KEA, 8,68,985 candidates from across Karnataka applied for the posts, while 7,13,662 appeared for the competitive examination.

The examinations were conducted between August 2 and September 20. KEA announced the results between August 21 and September 25, and said the recruitment process had reached its final stage. Candidates who clear the remaining requirements are expected to join the Karnataka Police within the next three months.

H. Prasanna, Executive Director of KEA, told The Hindu that the government had instructed the authority to conduct recruitment examinations on a “war footing”. He said the process had been completed in four months, adding that results for the Karnataka State Reserve Police, Karnataka State Industrial Security Force and Indian Reserve Battalion constable posts were declared within a week of the examination.

Mr. Prasanna said KEA had not received complaints or faced court cases concerning the examination. He also said there were no grievances about irregularities or translation errors in the question papers.

The authority uploaded candidates’ Optical Mark Recognition sheets on its website on the day of the examination, according to him. KEA also published the categories claimed by candidates along with the results, which Mr. Prasanna said was a first for the authority.

He said the selected candidates would secure employment within the next three months, subject to completion of the remaining stages. The State government has announced plans to fill approximately 75,000 government posts over the next two years. The government turned to KEA for recruitment while the Karnataka Public Service Commission remains embroiled in controversies and legal proceedings linked to alleged irregularities.

Purushottama N. R., a Bengaluru-based aspirant who applied for Civil Police Constable and KSRP Police Constable posts, said he had prepared for government employment for six years. He told The Hindu that, after passing the examination, he expected to join the Police Department in about three months if he cleared the physical test.
