Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has told Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike to make his political allegiance clear, saying he cannot support the All Progressives Congress while also working with other parties. Speaking to Channels Television’s Inside Sources in New York, Lawal said Wike should either join the APC and support it openly or remain outside the party. He said APC governors would maintain that position.
Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, has been associated with the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party platform linked to efforts to support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election. The Progressives Governors Forum has rejected the arrangement, saying it could undermine the President’s campaign. Lawal said he would discuss Wike’s position with Tinubu when the President returns from a working vacation in France.
He said the issue required a clear indication of where Wike belonged. Wike has nevertheless said that securing Tinubu’s victory in 2027 is his major political priority. He has also denied that the coalition was created to destabilise political parties.
