State Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy made the remarks at a passing-out parade at the District Police Training Centre in Chemudugunta, in SPSR Nellore district.
He addressed 176 Stipendiary Cadet Trainee Police Constables. Reddy said police recruits now included people with degrees and higher qualifications, compared with the earlier predominance of entrants with Class X education. He said police work involved public service as well as security.
The minister highlighted training in physical fitness, technical knowledge, legal awareness and cybercrime control. He advised the constables to preserve their fitness throughout their careers, which could last more than 30 years. State Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar attended a separate passing-out parade at the District Police Training Centre in Ongole.
He urged the graduates to continue training and improve their understanding of modern investigative methods. The recruits were told to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, discipline and a focus on public service. They were also urged to maintain good health and concentrate on detecting crime.
The batch comprised 190 trainees. Of these, 16 were postgraduates, 34 held B.Tech degrees, 121 were graduates and 19 had Intermediate qualifications. The source material said 176 completed training at the Nellore centre while providing the educational breakdown for the wider batch.
