Naidu calls for governance reforms to match India’s AI-driven economy

Speaking at a Mission Karmayogi workshop in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Naidu said the next 20 years would be crucial for India’s development.
He argued that institutions needed to respond more effectively to rising public aspirations, new technologies and the country’s young population. “The IT revolution came earlier, and now it is the age of AI. We have to change accordingly,” Naidu said, according to The Hindu.
He said governance systems and institutions should undergo “revolutionary changes” during the period. The workshop was organised by the Capacity Building Commission. Naidu said the iGOT-Mission Karmayogi programme would allow government employees to upgrade their skills continuously through online training.
Officials at both state and field levels, he said, needed regular training to improve public services. He said Andhra Pradesh had completed two crore courses through the portal, placing the State among the leading participants. Naidu also called for stronger leadership development and said technology and administrative procedures should be integrated to improve service quality and speed up decisions.
Naidu said unnecessary regulations that hindered progress should be removed or simplified, referring to the Jan Vishwas reforms. He also cited Andhra Pradesh’s Real Time Governance system, Data Lake and e-office as tools being used to monitor administration, citizen services and performance indicators. The Chief Minister said government departments should share information more effectively and develop the ability to identify problems before they became crises.
He urged officials to focus on welfare, development and wealth creation, with improving citizens’ quality of life as the common objective. He also referred to China’s economic transformation and said India needed to examine how it could make better use of its opportunities and resources.
