Railway police seize 25 kg of ganja from train at Jolarpet

Government Railway Police seized 25 kg of ganja from an express train at Jolarpet railway station in Tirupattur district on Sunday. The seizure took place during checks conducted as part of Operation Narcos, a special drive against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances and inflammable articles on trains. A GRP team inspecting trains at the station found two abandoned tourist bags in the general compartment.

The bags contained the ganja, police said. An initial inquiry indicated that three people got off the train and fled after noticing the police team. The source material did not identify the suspects or state the direction in which they escaped.
