Seyi Vibez leads Independence Day beach concert in Lagos

Seyi Vibez headlined Mainland Block Party’s Grand Turnup Affair at Sol Beach in Lagos, performing songs from his SWAGUU project and earlier catalogue. The Independence Day event also featured Peruzzi, Shoday, Muyeez and Terry Apala, with audiences responding most strongly during the headline set.
Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez headlined the Grand Turnup Affair, an Independence Day special organised by Mainland Block Party at Sol Beach, Elegushi Private Beach, in Lagos. The event began on Thursday night and continued into the early hours of Friday, bringing music fans to the beach for a programme centred on live music, nightlife and street-pop culture. Although attendance was initially slow and the atmosphere was tense, the audience gradually became more engaged as the performances progressed.
Seyi Vibez kept the crowd involved throughout his headline appearance, with fans singing along to songs from his latest project and recent catalogue. The singer performed tracks including “GTA” and “Dejavu”, while other songs from his 14-track SWAGUU project also featured prominently. Peruzzi, Shoday, Muyeez and Terry Apala were among the other artistes who appeared on stage during the event.
“GTA”, the song used as the event’s name, was one of the night’s highlights. The track, released as part of the current SWAGUU era, uses imagery associated with the Grand Theft Auto video-game franchise while addressing ambition, survival, street life and the pursuit of wealth. The beach setting gave the concert a more intimate character than some of Mainland Block Party’s larger events.
Guests arrived in groups, danced through the night and responded particularly strongly during Seyi Vibez’s performance. The singer had also headlined the May Day edition of the event at the Police College in Ikeja. That programme included Small Doctor, Shoday, Muyeez, Kayode and Boy Muller.
