Tamil Nadu BJP chief criticises Chief Minister’s tone and policy decisions

Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran has criticised Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s public conduct and alleged that the State’s law and order situation is deteriorating. Speaking to the media in Coimbatore on Sunday, Mr.

Nagenthran said the Chief Minister should learn to speak politely, now that he had assumed office. He questioned what could be expected from the administration if its leader did not communicate courteously. Mr.

Nagenthran also criticised the TVK government’s decision to scrap the Parandur airport project. He said Tamil Nadu would lose 10 years of progress because of the decision. He said that if the State government had completed land acquisition and obtained the necessary approvals, the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit would work to expedite the expansion of Coimbatore airport.

The BJP leader referred to changes in political alliances in Tamil Nadu, saying the BJP had allied with the DMK for the 1999 elections before the DMK aligned with the Congress. He noted that the Congress is now with the TVK in the State. Mr.

Nagenthran accused the Chief Minister of making contradictory claims. He also said a new Secretariat was needed but questioned whether it was necessary at present. He alleged that there was neither an estimate nor a drawing plan for the proposed Secretariat project.
