Telangana anti-corruption agency finds ₹7 lakh during NIMS case searches

Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau has expanded its investigation into a disproportionate-assets case against Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences Additional Medical Superintendent Nori Lakshmi Bhasker. The agency searched the homes of five NIMS employees on Tuesday. During the operation, it recovered ₹7 lakh in cash from Dhanraj, who works as a barber at the institute, according to The Hindu.

The ACB is examining land documents and tracing the money trail at all five locations. Investigators are also assessing whether the assets and financial transactions identified during the latest searches are connected to the case against Bhasker. The fresh searches follow the registration of a case against Bhasker, 56, and searches at his residence and seven other locations linked to relatives, friends, alleged benamis and associates on September 20.

The earlier operation reportedly uncovered assets valued at ₹6.13 crore. These included flats and plots, bank and post-office deposits, investments and mutual funds. The agency also listed 517.8 grams of gold, four cars and four two-wheelers among the assets found.

The ACB has not said that Dhanraj or the other employees whose homes were searched have been accused of wrongdoing. The recovery of cash is being examined as part of the continuing investigation. The agency said its investigation was continuing. Further legal action will depend on the evidence gathered through the examination of documents, assets and financial transactions.
