Actor V. Ravichandran to open 416th Srirangapatna Dasara
Actor V. Ravichandran will inaugurate the 416th Srirangapatna Dasara on October 15, while Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will open a six-day Cauvery Aarati programme at the KRS reservoir on October 11. Organisers said the festival would proceed without cuts despite the State’s drought situation.

The festival will be held from October 15 to 18. Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy, the Minister in charge of Mandya district, said the celebrations would follow tradition and would not be reduced despite the drought situation in the State.
The programme will be preceded by a two-day Yuva Sambhrama event on October 12 and 13. The organisers said it would provide a platform for local talent and would be conducted along the lines of the Mysuru Dasara programme. Chief Minister D.K.
Shivakumar will inaugurate the Cauvery Aarati programme at the Krishnaraja Sagar reservoir near Srirangapatna on October 11. The programme will continue for six days. Mr.
Cheluvarayaswamy said the Cauvery Aarati had been introduced at KRS for the first time last year and argued that such traditional programmes should continue as part of Karnataka’s cultural heritage. The Minister and other dignitaries also released the festival logo. According to the authorities, it features the gopuram of the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, a decorated elephant carrying the Jamboo Savari ambari and the number 416th.
The logo uses gold, dark green and red, which the authorities said represent the region’s cultural heritage, royal legacy and the grandeur of Dasara. Local elected representatives and senior district and tourism officials attended the event.
