Kwara governor co-presents book on women in diplomacy

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has co-presented a book documenting the contributions of 50 women to public service and diplomacy. AbdulRazaq said on Sunday that the presentation of The Female Diplomat, written by Oluwakemi Amuda, took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States. The governor said the book chronicled the achievements of women who had distinguished themselves in public service, particularly on the global stage.

He added that it recorded their progress despite the challenges they faced. AbdulRazaq said the event gave him another opportunity to present the experience of Kwara State to an international audience. He described the stories in the book as a reminder that diplomacy involved people, representation and identity, as well as states and institutions.

He also said the accounts reflected the courage required to occupy spaces where decisions are made. AbdulRazaq thanked those who attended the presentation and offered support and solidarity. During his engagements in New York, the governor said he joined Vice-President Kashim Shettima at a meeting with Nigerians living in the diaspora.

AbdulRazaq said he used the meeting to commend Nigerians abroad for their work and remittances, which he said continued to support the country in various ways. He also praised them for mostly serving as ambassadors of Nigeria. The meetings took place as world leaders, diplomats and other stakeholders gathered in New York for the UN General Assembly.
