Aig-Imoukhuede marks 60th birthday with tributes and music

Businessman and philanthropist Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede has celebrated his 60th birthday at a gathering attended by family, friends, business associates and prominent figures from public life. The event used a black-and-gold theme and included former President Olusegun Obasanjo, business executive Aliko Dangote, former Senate President Bukola Saraki and his wife Toyin, former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole and other guests. Aig-Imoukhuede and his wife, Ofovwe, received attendees during the celebration.

Music was a major part of the evening, with American gospel singer Kirk Franklin performing for guests. Aig-Imoukhuede and his wife danced to the performance, and the celebrant removed his tie and handed it to her before joining in the celebration. The birthday also featured a four-tier cake-cutting ceremony involving Aig-Imoukhuede and his family.

President Bola Tinubu sent his felicitations and praised Aig-Imoukhuede’s tenure as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, which began in 2002. Tinubu said Aig-Imoukhuede led the bank through a period of substantial growth. He also acknowledged his work as former president of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, founding chairman of FMDQ Securities Exchange and co-chairman of EnterpriseNGR.

In a personal message shared on LinkedIn, Aig-Imoukhuede expressed gratitude for life, family, friendship and purpose. He said a continuing theme in his journey had been building institutions, people and opportunities and helping to build a stronger Africa. He also thanked his wife, children, family, colleagues, partners and mentors, and paid tribute to his mother, Pastor Emily, and his close partner, Herbert.
