The exercise is expected to strengthen technical cooperation between the Air Force and Airbus, support knowledge transfer and provide NAF personnel with practical exposure to the maintenance of modern rotary-wing aircraft. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the project as a step towards improving the service’s technical and operational capacity. He said acquiring aircraft was only part of the requirement for maximising their value.
“Beyond acquiring modern platforms, we are committed to developing the knowledge, partnerships and support systems required to maximise their operational value and sustain them throughout their service life,” Aneke said. The Air Force said the H125 helicopters would add capacity to ongoing air operations. Their expected uses include surveillance, tactical mobility and other operational support missions.
The service also thanked President Bola Tinubu for what it called continued support and strategic direction. It said the administration’s commitment to strengthening national security capabilities was supporting fleet modernisation and operational effectiveness.
