Anambra South PDP candidate pledges jobs and projects across seven LGAs

The Peoples Democratic Party’s senatorial candidate for Anambra South in the 2027 general election, Prince Samben Nwosu, has pledged to prioritise job creation, sustainable empowerment and grassroots development if elected. Nwosu made the commitment during an interaction with journalists at his country home in Nnewi on Tuesday. He said his proposed representation would use a community-based approach to address the socio-economic concerns of residents across the district.

Anambra South comprises Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Orumba North, Orumba South, Nnewi North and Nnewi South local government areas. Nwosu said he was seeking election to provide what he called quality representation rather than to pursue personal wealth. He said his campaign would involve engaging residents, especially young people, to understand their economic challenges.

Nwosu also promised an empowerment model designed to create longer-term opportunities instead of providing short-term assistance during election periods. The candidate pledged that each of the seven local government areas would have a signature project under his proposed representation. He said bills and motions he supported in the Senate would be intended to affect residents’ daily lives and businesses directly.

Nwosu said he would oppose vote buying and electoral manipulation, and urged voters to protect their ballots. He said the PDP would deploy its structure to ensure that votes were counted at polling units across the district. The candidate expressed confidence in his party’s grassroots organisation and dismissed the prospects of rival candidates from the APC, APGA and NDC.

He also criticised lawmakers who, he said, returned to their constituencies mainly during election periods to distribute food and temporary assistance. His comments were campaign pledges and were not accompanied by details of funding or implementation.
