A five-day Dasara Kavigoshti will be held in Mysuru from October 13 to 17 as part of the cultural programme for Mysuru Dasara-2026. The sessions will take place at the B.M. Sri Auditorium of the Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies at the University of Mysore’s Manasagangothri campus.
M. Dasegowda, deputy special officer of the Dasara Kavigoshti sub-committee and Mysuru City Corporation deputy commissioner, announced the programme at a press conference on Wednesday. He said the event would have five sections: Chutuku and Hasya, youth poetry, emerging writers, folk poetry and the main Kavigoshti.
The Chutuku and Hasya session will be held on October 13, followed by the Yuva Kavigoshti on October 14 and the Chiguru session for emerging writers on October 15. The Janapada Kavyaghoshti will be held on October 16, with the main Kavigoshti scheduled for October 17. They include senior writer Vaidehi, actor Mukhyamantri Chandru, poet K. Shareefa, writer Agrahara Krishnamurthy, folk scholar P.K. Rajashekara and senior poet Pratibha Nandakumar.
Dasegowda said a publicity vehicle would be flagged off at 11 a.m. on October 5 and travel across Mysuru to promote the programme. The event is intended to provide a platform for poets and literary talent from different sections of society.
The festival will also feature Bahuroopi poetry, book stalls and other stalls, according to the organisers. Dasara Kavigoshti working president M. Nanjayya Honganuru and others were present at the announcement.
