The two-day Andhra Vignana Sammelanam-2026 opened in Vijayawada with discussions on environmental protection, biodiversity, Telugu literature, nuclear energy, traditional architecture, water conservation and Ayurveda. Organisers said the programme aims to make scientific knowledge accessible through Telugu and connect traditional knowledge with modern science.

The two-day Andhra Vignana Sammelanam-2026 began at the School of Planning and Architecture in Vijayawada on Monday. The first day featured discussions on environmental protection, biodiversity, Telugu literature, nuclear energy and sustainable development. Traditional Indian architecture, water conservation and Ayurveda were also among the subjects considered.

The programme aims to promote scientific and technological knowledge through Telugu and connect traditional knowledge systems with contemporary scientific thought. Scientists, academics, researchers and students attended. The organisers said a principal objective was to make scientific knowledge accessible to a wider section of society through the Telugu language.

The conference also seeks to encourage scientific temper among students and young people. Professor and architect Amogh Kumar Gupta, chairperson of the SPA Vijayawada Board of Governors, was the chief guest. Former JNTU-Kakinada Vice-Chancellor K.V.S.G.

Murali Krishna and IGCAR Chemical Sciences Division Dean C.V.S. Brahmanandam Rao attended as guests of honour. The discussions brought together current scientific approaches and traditional knowledge in areas including health, environment, architecture, mathematics and sustainable development.

Students and researchers took part in interactive sessions. Tuesday’s programme will include sessions on yoga, Ayurveda, mathematics, astronomy, Indian knowledge traditions, artificial intelligence and ethics. Research papers will also be presented before the valedictory programme.
