Bengaluru marathon to feature four race categories on September 27
The 13th Wipro Bengaluru Marathon will take place on September 27, with full and half-marathon routes passing landmarks including Vidhana Soudha, Cubbon Park and Ulsoor Lake. Organisers say more than 45,000 runners, including 25 elite athletes, are expected to participate.
Bengaluru will host the 13th edition of the Wipro Bengaluru Marathon on Sunday, September 27, according to the organisers. The event is being organised by NEB Sports in association with the Karnataka Athletics Association, Wipro Limited and Shriram Properties. It will include full-marathon, half-marathon, 10K and 5K categories.
The full marathon will start from Sree Kanteerava Stadium and will be flagged off by Ranjita Ghosh, Wipro’s global chief marketing officer. Actor and fitness celebrity Mandira Bedi will flag off the half marathon. The 10K run will be flagged off by Seemanth Kumar Singh, Commissioner of Police; N.A.
Harris, Congress MLA and chairman of the Bengaluru Development Authority; and Tejasvi Surya, Member of Parliament. Karnataka Minister for Tourism and Energy K.J. George is also scheduled to attend.
Routes for the full and half marathons will pass through Bengaluru landmarks including Vidhana Soudha and Cubbon Park. This year, the routes will also include Ulsoor Lake, a release said. The full marathon is scheduled to begin at 3.50 a.m., followed by the half marathon at 6 a.m., the 10K at 7.30 a.m.
and the 5K at 8.15 a.m. A separate flag-off for participants with disabilities and visually impaired participants is scheduled for 8.20 a.m. The organisers said people from all age groups could participate.
More than 45,000 runners, including 25 elite runners from across India, are expected to take part.
