The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that Lagos will host its 2026 awards ceremony on 7 December. CAF’s executive committee also approved changes to interclub competition rules, including allowing players to represent more than one club in a season, expanding squad limits and moving disciplinary matters to the Disciplinary Board.

The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that its 2026 awards ceremony will be held in Lagos, Nigeria, on 7 December. The date and venue were approved at a virtual meeting of the CAF Executive Committee chaired by president Patrice Motsepe on Friday, 2 October. Nigeria will also host CAF’s Ordinary General Assembly on 21 November.

The awards ceremony will recognise achievements in men’s and women’s football, with categories including Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Club of the Year. The event is expected to bring together players, coaches, clubs and administrators from across the continent. CAF’s committee also approved the competitions calendar for 2026 to 2030 and amendments to the regulations for its interclub competitions.

Under the revised rules, players may represent more than one club during a single CAF interclub season. The maximum number of players a club can register at any point during a season has been increased to 40. Clubs will also be allowed to replace four players in the final registration window, provided those players have not appeared in a CAF interclub match during that season.

The committee decided that all disciplinary matters would be referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board rather than the Interclub Committee. CAF also approved the dates for the 2026 Women’s Champions League, whose final tournament will run from 1 to 15 November. Senegal was confirmed as host of the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations from 28 November to 6 December.

The country won the previous edition and will host the tournament while seeking to defend its title. CAF’s meeting also received an update on preparations for its strategy conference in Sal, Cabo Verde, scheduled for 7 to 9 October.
