Zamfara launches 95-kilometre road project linking farms to markets

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has launched construction of a major road in Tsafe Local Government Area, saying it will improve access between farming communities and markets while supporting security operations. The project, which includes five bridges, is expected to be completed within 12 months, according to the state government.
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has flagged off construction of the 95-kilometre Yandoton Daji–Cediya–Doka–Yan Waren Daji–Hayin Alhaji Bedi–Unguwar Joji–Yan Kuzo–Tsafe Road in Tsafe Local Government Area. The governor performed the ceremony in Tsafe town on Sunday, according to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris. The statement said the project was intended to improve connectivity and stimulate economic activity, particularly for farmers.
The road is being constructed by Sky Construction Company and Setraco Construction Company Limited. The project includes five bridges and is expected to be completed within 12 months, the statement said. Lawal said the route would connect farmlands to major roads and make it easier for farmers to move produce from farms to markets.
He added that better access would reduce transportation difficulties and enable heavy-duty agricultural equipment to reach farms more easily. The governor also linked the project to the state’s security needs. He said improved roads would strengthen the mobility and operational capacity of security agencies, while supporting surveillance, intelligence gathering and responses to threats.
Lawal described the road as part of a wider infrastructure renewal programme covering several strategic corridors in Zamfara. He said the administration planned to construct additional inner roads in other local government areas. Commissioner for Works Lawal Bungundu said the project would connect several farmlands and help improve the transport of agricultural produce.
He said the work formed part of the administration’s stated aim of rebuilding the state and investing in critical infrastructure.
