The APC says more than 20,000 women are expected at a mobilisation and empowerment summit in Abuja on Monday, with First Lady Oluremi Tinubu scheduled to lead the gathering. Organisers say the meeting will discuss grassroots participation and government programmes while advancing support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 election.

The All Progressives Congress is set to hold a women’s mobilisation and empowerment summit in Abuja on Monday as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 presidential election. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu is expected to lead the gathering, which organisers say will attract more than 20,000 women from across Nigeria. The event, organised by the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, is scheduled for 8 a.m.

at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre. Its theme is “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity”, while the mobilisation message is “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027”. Dr Betta Edu, the director of the campaign council’s Women Mobilisation Directorate, said the structure was expanding its grassroots organisation nationwide.

The directorate has said it is targeting 40 million votes from women for President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 election. The summit is expected to bring together women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, political stakeholders, community representatives and grassroots organisers. According to the organisers, discussions will cover political participation, mobilisation and government programmes being presented as part of the administration’s record.

Princess Gloria Akobundu, a member of the campaign council’s women mobilisation planning committee, cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, CREDICORP, infrastructure projects, cash transfers, digital-skills initiatives and youth empowerment programmes. She urged women in Imo State and across the South-East to strengthen their structures and take the APC’s message to communities. Akobundu said NELFUND had created access to interest-free loans for students who might otherwise struggle to fund tertiary education.

She also referred to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway and the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road. The meeting is intended to serve both as an empowerment forum and as an early campaign mobilisation exercise for the APC’s Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
