Teachers in Ekiti State will observe Monday, October 5, 2026, as a work-free day to enable them to take part in activities marking World Teachers’ Day, the state government has announced. The declaration was disclosed by the Commissioner for Education, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye, in a statement issued on Saturday. She said the arrangement applied to all teachers in the state.
Aderiye also said day students were expected to stay at home on the same day. She urged parents, guardians, school authorities and students to take note of the decision and make appropriate arrangements. According to the commissioner, the holiday was intended to allow teachers to participate fully in events planned for the 2026 celebration.
