Chittoor allocated ₹1,529.69 crore under Rayalaseema horticulture plan

Kumar said the plan would link horticulture with irrigation, infrastructure and rural development. Its objective is to create a complete chain from production to marketing and exports, with the aim of improving farmers’ incomes.
In Chittoor, implementation will run for three years across 20 clusters covering 27 mandals. The first phase, during 2026-27, will include five clusters in seven mandals. Eight clusters in nine mandals are planned for 2027-28, followed by seven clusters in 11 mandals in 2028-29.
The largest allocation, ₹620.40 crore, is for micro-irrigation and improved water-use efficiency. A further ₹383.74 crore will promote demand-driven crops, including exotic fruits, vegetables, flowers and oil palm. The plan assigns ₹162.80 crore to productivity improvements such as the rejuvenation of old orchards, pruning, mulching and integrated pest and nutrient management.
Good agricultural practices, traceability and certification will receive ₹28.85 crore. Market infrastructure, including collection centres, warehouses and pack-houses, has been allocated ₹77.11 crore. Post-harvest facilities such as cold storage, ripening chambers, refrigerated transport and processing units will receive ₹84.96 crore.
Other provisions include ₹23 crore for farmer-producer organisations and agricultural start-ups, ₹21 crore for planting material and nurseries, ₹17.21 crore for mechanisation, ₹17.40 crore for training, ₹16.13 crore for technology extension and ₹67.09 crore for cluster-specific activities.
