CRPF’s southern regional chief Ravideep Singh Sahi retires
Additional Director General Ravideep Singh Sahi retired from the Central Reserve Police Force after more than 40 years of service. The 1986-batch officer held operational and administrative roles in Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh and the North-East, and received several police honours during his career.
Ravideep Singh Sahi, Additional Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force’s Southern Region, retired on Wednesday after more than four decades of service. Sahi joined the CRPF as part of the 1986 batch and served in operational areas including Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh and the North-East. He was Inspector General of the Srinagar Sector from 2016 to 2020, where he was involved in anti-terror operations and law-and-order duties.
He also helped strengthen the CRPF’s Quick Action Teams in the Kashmir Valley. After the 2001 Parliament attack, Sahi served with the Lok Sabha Secretariat and contributed to security arrangements at the Parliament House Complex. He pioneered a counter-insurgency and anti-terrorist training course in 1993, which later developed into dedicated training centres, according to the source material.
As Inspector General of Communication and Information Technology, he led the CRPF’s adoption of e-Office systems and video-conferencing facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Additional Director General of the South Zone, he was involved in anti-Naxal operations along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh and Gadchiroli-Chhattisgarh borders. Sahi received the Police Medal for Gallantry, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
