Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has inaugurated reconstituted leadership bodies for the State Civil Service Commission, ESUT, IMT and other education institutions, along with a TVET Board. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, he urged the appointees to prioritise transparency, merit, evidence, innovation and teamwork.

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has inaugurated the reconstituted Enugu State Civil Service Commission and governing councils of several education institutions, as well as a new Technical and Vocational Education and Training Board. The ceremony at Government House was conducted on the Governor’s behalf by Secretary to the State Government Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.

The bodies inaugurated included the councils of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo, and Enugu State College of Education Technical. Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Onyia said the changes were part of the administration’s effort to build strong institutions.

He said effective public administration and skilled manpower were necessary to support the government’s ambition of growing the State’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion. He urged the appointees to uphold transparency, traceability and accountability, and to work according to evidence, merit, innovation and teamwork. He warned that working in isolation could create opportunities for corruption and duplication.

Prof. Gabriel Ajah was inaugurated as chairman of the Civil Service Commission, with Ambrose Nwodo as secretary. Victor Chukwuani was named chairman of the ESUT council, while Chinedu Onu became chairman of the IMT council.

Dr. Amaka Ngene was inaugurated as chairperson-designate of the TVET Board. The leadership of the Polytechnic and ESCET was also inaugurated.

Rev. Prof. Anthony Aniagboso Igwe became rector of the Polytechnic, while Deaconess Ifeoma Nwobodo became chairperson of its governing council.

Nwabueze Ugwu was named chairperson of the ESCET board. Accepting the appointments, Prof. Ajah introduced the “P.R.E.S.E.N.T” philosophy—Professionalism, Responsibility, Excellence, Service to all, Exemplary conduct, Neutrality and Team spirit—as a guide for the commission.
