Applicants must also establish which German mission is responsible for handling their applications before booking an appointment.
The missions advised them to use the official online appointment system for the relevant category and follow the instructions provided. For some long-stay visa categories, applicants can begin through Germany’s Consular Services Portal. However, the mission stressed that an online application does not remove the need for an in-person appointment when biometric data, original documents or other checks are required.
