India wins six athletics medals at Asian Games but no gold

Usha. Parul Chaudhary added bronze in the women’s 5,000 metres in 15:14.61, her second medal of the Games. Sreeshankar injured his ankle during his fourth attempt and withdrew from the remaining rounds.
Avinash Sable finished fourth in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase in 8:21.67, missing the podium despite recording a season best. Seema also finished fourth in the women’s discus. India qualified for the men’s 4x400m relay final after clocking 3:01.49.
The mixed 4x100m team also advanced after finishing second in its heat in 41.54 seconds. Pooja qualified for the women’s 800m final in 2:03.20. The relay finals offered India further opportunities to end its wait for an athletics gold.
