Jigawa links delayed NECO results to failed payment transaction

The Jigawa State Government has attributed the delayed release of National Examinations Council results for public-school students to a failed bank transaction. The explanation followed complaints from students, parents and guardians in Dutse, Hadejia and Gumel after NECO released the 2027 results nationally on September 24. Students in public schools reportedly could not access their results for several days, while candidates in private schools were able to check theirs.
The delay caused concern among families, particularly those whose children needed the results for admission. Jigawa Commissioner for Higher Education Prof. Isa Chamo said on Tuesday that the government had paid the required fees, but that the funds deposited with NECO had bounced back because of bank transaction problems.
“The delay is not intentional,” Chamo said. He added that the state acted immediately after discovering the failed transaction and reprocessed the payment. According to the commissioner, NECO had confirmed receipt of the money and the issue had been resolved.
He said public-school students would be able to check their results on the examination council’s portal from 6pm on Tuesday. Chamo appealed to students, parents and guardians to remain calm, saying no student would be left behind. He also said the administration of Governor Umar Namadi remained committed to meeting its education-related obligations.
