Lagos State University says applications for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund’s 2026/2027 student loans have opened. The university urged eligible students to apply by December 31, 2026, after checking their institutional and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board records to avoid delays or disqualification caused by inaccurate or mismatched information.

Lagos State University has announced the opening of applications for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund’s 2026/2027 student loan programme, urging eligible students to complete the process before the December 31, 2026 deadline. The university disclosed the information in a statement posted on its X handle on Sunday. It said the application portal opened on September 23, 2026, and would remain available until December 31.

According to LASU, applicants must be duly registered students of the university and have valid Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board registration numbers, National Identification Numbers and Bank Verification Numbers. The institution also asked students to confirm that their matriculation numbers, departments and other institutional records had been correctly uploaded and updated on the university portal. It said applicants should verify their JAMB details before submitting applications through the NELFUND portal.

LASU said the checks were necessary to prevent disqualification or delays resulting from discrepancies and data mismatches. Students were advised to resolve any errors before proceeding with their applications. Those who experience difficulties verifying or updating their records were directed to seek assistance from the university’s Directorate of ICT or Special Interventions.

LASU encouraged all eligible students to use the application window and submit their forms within the stated period.
