Mysuru police announce diversions for Sunday cycling event

Mysuru City Police have advised motorists to avoid roads along the L’Étape Mysuru cycling route on Sunday morning, when organisers expect about 2,500 riders. The races will begin near Mysuru Palace from 6 a.m., with events ranging from a 100-km elite race to a children’s ride.
Mysuru City Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of the L’Étape Mysuru cycling event on Sunday, warning that congestion is likely along the route and adjoining roads. The event will begin at 6 a.m. near the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple by the North Gate of Mysuru Palace.
Police have asked motorists to avoid the race route between 6 a.m. and 10.30 a.m., use alternative roads and follow diversion signs and officers’ instructions. The published route runs through D.
Devaraj Urs Road, JLB Road, Ramaswamy Circle, 100 Feet Road, Gun House Circle, Nanjangud Road, Rajahamsa Junction and Lorry Terminal. It then continues through Chamappaji Road, CAR Junction, Tavarekatte, Chamundi Hill Road, Uttanahalli, Hosahundi Ring Road and T. Narasipura.
The cyclists will proceed through Suttur, Varuna and Hoshahalli before passing Doctors’ Community Hall, Lalitha Mahal Road, Sangolli Rayanna Circle, MRC Signal and Karanji Lake Tank Bund Road. The race will finish on F.K. Irani Road.
Police specifically identified Devaraj Urs Road, JLB Road, Chamaraja Double Road, Nanjangud Road, Chamappaji Road, Chamundi Hill Road, Alanahalli Road, Lalitha Mahal Road and Karanji Lake Tank Bund Road for avoidance during the event. Organisers said the 100-km Elite Men’s Race would start at 6 a.m., followed by the 100-km Open Race at 6.10 a.m. The 50-km race begins at 6.45 a.m., the 20-km Family Fun Ride at 7 a.m.
and the 1-km Kids & Community Ride at 9 a.m. About 2,500 riders are expected, including participants from five countries and more than 12 Indian States.
