Nigerian editors praise Enugu infrastructure after tour of state projects

Leaders of the Nigerian Guild of Editors have praised Governor Peter Mbah’s infrastructure programme in Enugu State after touring several completed and ongoing projects during the 2026 All Nigerian Editors Conference. More than 300 editors, senior media executives and media veterans attended the conference. The editors later held an interactive session with Mbah at the Government House, where they discussed projects visited during the tour.
NGE President Eze Anaba said the developments demonstrated what a sub-national government could achieve through focused leadership and effective use of resources. He cited Smart Schools, a technical and vocational college, roads, transport terminals, rehabilitated industries and restored water infrastructure. Anaba also listed the completed Enugu International Hospital, the 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Ikem dual carriageway, the restored Hotel Presidential, the tourism complex at Ngwo Pines and an ongoing integrated livestock hub.
According to the account presented to the editors, the livestock facility could accommodate up to 40,000 cattle. The delegation also visited the state’s Command and Control Centre. Anaba said the facility had helped the administration reduce crime significantly.
Former Ogun State governor and media veteran Segun Oshoba separately praised Enugu’s security system, referring to its use in tracking kidnappers after an incident at Affa in Udi Local Government Area and securing the return of two hostages. Oshoba urged other state governments to develop similar statewide surveillance systems. Anaba also endorsed peer review between states, saying governments could accelerate development by studying policies and projects implemented elsewhere.
Mbah said the projects were designed to work together in support of his campaign promise to increase Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion. He said the administration’s objectives included reducing poverty and making the state a destination for investment, business, tourism and living.
