Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat led government dignitaries at the ceremony.
In a post on X, Hamzat described Jacobs as an icon of the entertainment industry and offered condolences to his family. Singer Dare Art Alade performed “Pray for Me” during the service. Nollywood figures including Kate Henshaw, Stan Nze and Ernest Obi were also listed among those present.
After the ceremony, the hearse proceeded to the burial site. The funeral followed a night of tributes and a service of songs held on Wednesday. Jacobs was remembered for his contribution to Nigeria’s entertainment industry and for roles as traditional rulers, chiefs and father figures.
Born on July 11, 1942, Jacobs trained at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He appeared in several British television productions before returning to Nigeria and becoming one of Nollywood’s prominent actors. He and his wife, actress Joke Silva, married in 1989 and later co-founded the Lufodo Group and Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts.
