The event is being organised with the Telangana Paper Merchants’ Association. Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla is scheduled to inaugurate the meeting on October 3. More than 1,000 delegates from across India are expected to attend, including manufacturers, industry leaders and policymakers.
Tirumala Balaji Paper managing director T. Kishan Singh is expected to become nominee president of the federation. The organisers said the Indian paper industry produces more than 24 million tonnes annually, contributes over ₹1 lakh crore to the economy and provides direct employment to about five lakh people.
They said roughly 15 lakh people are supported indirectly. TPMA representatives also highlighted the shortage of suitable warehouse space, including in Hyderabad. They said traders connect paper mills with publishers, notebook producers, printers, converters and other users.
The association said paper remained important despite increasing digitisation and repeated its appeal for lower GST. Discussions will also examine sustainability, technological changes and emerging opportunities.
