Dutse was found dead inside her residence in Muazu New Layout, Yelwa, Bauchi, according to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Nafiu Habib, on behalf of Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu. Habib said a 49-year-old man reported the discovery at the ‘E’ Division on October 3, 2026.
The statement said the deceased was found in a pool of blood with her throat allegedly slit by unidentified assailants. Detectives attached to the division visited the residence, documented the scene and evacuated the body to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for medical examination and autopsy. The police commissioner directed that the case be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet and thorough investigation.
Police said the investigation was intended to establish the circumstances of Dutse’s death and identify those responsible. The command did not name any suspects or provide a possible motive. The command offered condolences to Dutse’s family, friends and political associates, and said efforts would be made to apprehend those responsible.
