Radiology programme in Kalaburagi highlights advances in diagnostic imaging
Doctors and medical students attended a radiology programme in Kalaburagi focused on advanced ultrasound, Doppler and other imaging technologies. The Karnataka chapter of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association said modern techniques were improving the speed and accuracy of diagnosis and urged practitioners to keep updating their skills.
The growing role of advanced imaging in diagnosis was highlighted at an academic programme held at Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital in Kalaburagi on Sunday. The programme, titled “From Probe to Practice – Radiology Live”, was organised jointly by the Karnataka State chapter of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association and the Department of Radiology at Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College. Sudhir Kale, president of the Karnataka State chapter of the association, was the chief speaker.
He discussed current technologies in radiology, including advanced ultrasound, sonography, Doppler and other imaging techniques. Kale said radiology contributed to every stage of diagnosis, from examining a patient and obtaining accurate images to analysing and interpreting the results. He said newer technologies had improved the speed and accuracy of diagnosis.
He urged doctors to update their knowledge continuously as imaging methods develop. Academic and practical programmes, he said, could benefit both medical practitioners and students by linking technical knowledge with clinical application. Kale also said Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital had several modern facilities required for radiology and diagnosis and was progressing towards recognition among the region’s advanced hospitals.
The programme also covered the activities of the Karnataka State chapter, which organises academic meetings, conferences and other events for radiologists. Kale said the Karnataka Radiologists Premier League was being held to promote sport and recreation alongside professional development. Sharanabasappa Harawal, a convener of the medical college and member of its governing body, addressed the gathering.
Sharanagouda Patil, the college dean, presided. Other attendees included association secretary Vijay Sarathi, radiology department head Shivanand Melakundi and KMC observer Dr Rayakod Patil.
