The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety is expected to inspect Bengaluru’s 7.5-kilometre elevated Pink Line section between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere from October 6 to 8. The review will assess safety for passenger operations, and clearance would allow BMRCL to prepare for opening the newly built stretch.

The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety is likely to conduct a statutory inspection of a 7.5-kilometre elevated section of Bengaluru’s Pink Line from October 6 to 8. The proposed inspection covers the stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere stations. It will be carried out by V.

Venkatasubramanian, Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety for the Southern Circle, according to officials cited in the source material. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited submitted its application for the statutory inspection on September 18. The review concerns the newly constructed Reach 6 elevated section.

The multi-day inspection will assess whether the section satisfies safety requirements for commercial passenger operations. Officials expect the examination to include the Operations Control Centre, following speed trials conducted on the stretch. If the section receives the mandatory safety clearance, BMRCL can begin preparations to open it for passenger services.

The inspection itself does not amount to approval, and the source material does not give a date for any possible opening. The Pink Line is planned to extend for 21.3 kilometres. Its elevated section is 7.5 kilometres long, while the underground section covers 13.8 kilometres.

The underground portion will connect Dairy Circle, M.G. Road, Shivajinagar and Tannery Road. It is intended to provide a north-south metro link through central Bengaluru.

The line has missed several deadlines, although the source material does not specify those dates or explain the reasons for the delays. The immediate next step is the proposed safety inspection of the elevated section, after which BMRCL could proceed with operational preparations if clearance is granted.
