Sokoto approves eight appointments to vacant district chieftaincies

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has approved the appointment of eight new district heads to fill vacant traditional positions across the state. The appointments were announced in a statement signed by Sa’idu Maccido, Secretary of the Sultanate Council, Sokoto. The statement said the nominees were recommended by the council before receiving the governor’s approval.

The appointees are Salihu Kadadi, Sarkin Arewan Kadadi; Isah Gidan Madi, Ausan Gidan Madi; and Gidado Dabagi, Sarkin Gabas Dabagin Ardo. The others are Hayatu Dallatu, Uban Kasar Tudun Wada; Abdullahi Muhammed Danchadi, Sarkin Zamfaran Danchadi; Umar Shehu Goronyo, Sarkin Gabas Goronyo; Kabiru Marafa, Ajiyan Tsaki; and Muhammadu Buhari, Ardon Wajake. The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, is expected to conduct the formal turbaning ceremony for the new traditional rulers at a later date.

The Sultanate Council congratulated the appointees and wished them success and guidance. It also urged them to justify the confidence placed in them and contribute to peace and development in their respective communities. The Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Sokoto State Council separately congratulated Hayatu Dallatu, one of its members, on his appointment as district head of Tudun Wada.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Usman Bunni, and secretary, Muhammad Nasiru, the council described the appointment as an important traditional responsibility and welcomed the confidence placed in its member.
