The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has formally joined the INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu, following a meeting of alliance leaders at the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee headquarters in Chennai. The meeting on Saturday was chaired by TNCC president B. Manickam Tagore.
Leaders also decided to hold “Save Democracy” protests at district headquarters across the state on October 13 and 14, followed by a demonstration in Chennai on October 15. Tagore said the protests would focus on what the parties described as the breakdown of democracy in India. He said the INDIA bloc would oppose the RSS, the BJP and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

He said alliance leaders had contacted parties that should have attended but declined to comment on those absent. Tagore said TVK leaders were prepared to join demonstrations and burn an effigy of Kumar. He described the alliance as strong in Tamil Nadu and said the bloc would continue opposing the BJP and the Chief Election Commissioner.
The meeting took place amid wider opposition protests over the electoral process and demands involving the Election Commission. The source material did not give details of TVK’s specific organisational role within the alliance beyond its formal welcome and stated readiness to participate in the protests.
