Bhadragiri Mart, a grocery enterprise managed by tribal women’s self-help groups in Bhadrachalam, has won Telangana’s State-level Best Innovative Tourism Project/Products Award. The store was established with support from the Integrated Tribal Development Agency and sells products including millet biscuits, forest honey, mahua laddus and cold-pressed oils.

Bhadragiri Mart, an enterprise managed by tribal women’s self-help groups in Bhadrachalam, has received the State-level Best Innovative Tourism Project/Products Award. The grocery store won the recognition within six months of its establishment, highlighting the enterprise created with support from the Integrated Tribal Development Agency in Bhadrachalam. The store has become known among devotees and tourists visiting the historic temple town for products described by the organisers as wholesome and natural.

Its range includes goods valued for their nutritional qualities and traditional flavours. Millet biscuits are among Bhadragiri Mart’s signature products. Other products include wild forest honey, iron-rich mahua laddus and wooden cold-pressed oils.

ITDA project officer B. Rahul received the award from Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at a World Tourism Day function in Hyderabad on Saturday. The ITDA’s initiative promotes collective work by tribal women’s self-help groups and aims to support financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.

The award recognised the mart’s role as both a local enterprise and a tourism-linked product outlet. The store’s organisers said its products had helped give visitors access to goods associated with the local tribal communities. The award was presented during a State event marking World Tourism Day.
