Two arrested with 11kg of ganja on train at Jolarpet

Government Railway Police arrested two commuters at Jolarpet railway station on Wednesday after allegedly finding 11kg of ganja in their baggage, police said. The arrested men were identified as K. Prakash, 25, and R.

Sakthivel, 20. Both were residents of Salem, according to the police account. The arrests took place during surprise checks on the Shalimar–Trivandrum Central Super-Fast Express.

The checks were part of Operation Narcos, a special drive against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances and inflammable articles on trains. Police personnel searched the baggage of the two commuters and found bundles of ganja. The pair allegedly attempted to flee after the discovery, but the team arrested them.
