The University of Hyderabad conferred 1,721 degrees, including 300 PhDs, and presented 178 medals at its 26th convocation. Speakers urged graduates to combine academic achievement with humility, integrity and adaptability, while the university reported ₹184 crore in active research projects.

The University of Hyderabad conferred 1,721 degrees, including 300 PhD degrees, at its 26th convocation on Thursday. The university also presented 178 medals for academic excellence during the ceremony. Governor and Chief Rector Shiv Pratap Shukla urged graduates to remain humble and grounded, saying education should be reflected in character, values and social responsibility.

Chancellor Justice L. Narasimha Reddy congratulated the graduates and called on them to uphold academic excellence, innovation and social responsibility. He also highlighted the institution’s work in research, patents and entrepreneurship.

Former Defence Research and Development Organisation chairman Samir V. Kamat advised students to embrace uncertainty, pursue their interests and remain adaptable, collaborative and persistent. Drawing on his experience at DRDO, he described learning as a lifelong process and said success required calculated risks and continuing skills development.

The university announced its Chancellor’s Award for 2026 for five young faculty members: T. Saravanan of the School of Chemistry, Jogi Madhuprakash of the Department of Plant Sciences, Ramachandrarao Yalla of the School of Physics, Anagha Ingole of the Department of Political Science and Naresh Annem of the School of Humanities. Anuradha presented the university’s annual report for 2025-26. She said the university had ₹184 crore in active research projects and that 34 faculty members were among the world’s top 2% of highly cited researchers. The report also referred to the ANRF-PAIR programme, ASPIRE startups, international collaborations, new academic programmes, accessibility facilities and admissions for 2026-27.

The university’s 26th convocation was attended by senior officials and academic leaders.
