Accord Party candidate for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, says President Bola Tinubu could secure more than one million votes in Osun State in the 2027 presidential election. Olajengbesi made the projection on Saturday after meeting Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son. In a statement he personally signed, he said reconciliation in Osun after the governorship election had created an opportunity to build support for the President.
He said his political objective was to mobilise over one million votes for Tinubu, citing the reconciliation in the state and Governor Ademola Adeleke’s stated commitment to the President. Olajengbesi, a lawyer and spokesman for Adeleke’s re-election campaign, also praised Seyi Tinubu’s support for youth participation in governance. He described Seyi Tinubu as someone who had engaged young people and supported their aspirations.
Adeleke, of the Peoples Democratic Party, won the August governorship election with 511,067 votes. The All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, received 444,815 votes, while African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salam polled 17,180 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission said Osun had more than 2.3 million registered voters and 1.9 million collected Permanent Voter Cards.
